Victorian Crazy-Quilting

Explore the intricate world of textile craftsmanship, guests will be guided through the museum, focusing on the upstairs sewing room and the historical significance of handcraft and domestic textile production. Following the house tour, participants will gather in the Program Room for an immersive 60-minute workshop on the art of Victorian "crazy quilt" making and get an inside look at some of the quilts in our collection. Led by a seasoned textile artist, attendees will be supplied with all the necessary materials to create a quilt block measuring approximately 12x12 inches. Through the gentle rhythm of hand-sewing, they will channel the resourcefulness and sustainability inherent in this timeless art form. Guests will learn about historic methods of using resources sustainably and wisely.
